Project struggles
The other night Jay and I were talking about how long it has been since I worked on my writing projects and the reasons why I haven't. Truth be told, I stopped writing after I had someone read them and attempted to take over my projects. I had thought they were a friend and should have known better from past experiences of lack of honesty from this particular individual. Thankfully Jay encouraged me to drop this person as a friend and encouraged me to make friends with some of the wives who have husbands on the Nimitz and I did. But I never went back to my writing. Jay asked me why it was that I hadn't started writing again and I ended up telling him how I felt about trusting people and having them hurt me. He understands how hard that issue is for me and only encouraged me to get back into my projects. So this year I think I will be starting up on them again, only the one is getting a fresh look. Jay keeps hoping that the one writing project will get published one day and become a famous book, I just love writing and want to get it done so well see who's right. Is it harder to start projects after those you trust hurt that trust? I think it is.
Mini deployments
Well we have officially kicked off the many mini deployments for the year today. Jay left at an inhumane hour this morning (4:45) and will be gone for the next 9 days. We have many of these coming up until June-July when he'll go out for 6 months. I honestly hate the mini deployments more than the normal ones. The mini ones are more confusing to the kids and I don't adjust sleep wise as easily. But this is part of the job and so I keep hoping as time goes on they will get easier to deal with, ie I wont do my begging in the morning for him not to go. It will be so nice that he will at least be home for his birthday and for Kaden's this year!

A Revolt or a flood?
Actually, it is both. For the last 3 months I have felt absolutely horrible. Well as the symptoms got worse and Jay started to see just how bad things were getting around here, basically I started dropping the ball on things I am usually way up on or ahead of schedule on, he convinced me it was time to get into the dr. So thankfully my mom was here for a visit and was able to watch the kids while he took me to the ER. That was the fun part of our day. We spent the last 7 hours in the ER waiting room at the Naval hospital. That was no fun. While we were there we started joking around about how my body suddenly decided to wage war on me and I was all broken. Jay has been teasing me for the last little while that I am broken since things were not going so well for me with my health. While we were sitting and waiting the ER bathrooms flooded. And when I say flooded I mean it. They had to shut down the ER and close off some hallways because it got so bad. Finally after 6 1/2 hours I got seen. Luckily things got better again after that. I ened up with a nasty kidney infection and hopefully that will be the end of me feeling like garbage. I couldn't be more greatful for my mom visitng for the next few days after this. She had a blast with the kids and it gave us time to focus on getting me some help. Boy, I hate drs and hospitials now.

Cheers to visiting teachers
I have awsome visiting teachers for the first time ever! I just met my other visiting teacher, her compainion's kids were sick, today and we ended up spending 4 hours talking. Jay actually got concerned when I didn't call him asking where he was after noon came and went. I have amazing visiting teachers and they are the type that I had always wished to have in past wards. They really care and want to get to know me. I feel like I came away from that visit with a new friend in the ward. This has been a need for me for a really long time and I couldn't be more greatful.
Is this for real???
I had to go into the dr yesterday for a physical and while I was there I talked with the dr about some issue that I have been dealing with about pain. I got a stronger perscription of motrin to use when the pain gets to be too much for me and on the way home I read the warning lable for fun. (got to love how much information the military gives you on just one perscription)
"Motrin side effects: upset stomach, nausia, vomiting, heartburn, headache, diarrhea, constipation, drowsiness (or in my case sleep is what comes in 20 min), and dizziness may occur. Notify dr if these effects persist.
Tell your doctor immedately if any of these serious side effects occur: vision changes, rapid or pounding heartbeat, easy bruising or bleeding, difficult/painful swallowing.
Tell your dr immedately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: change in amount of urine, severe headache, very stiff neck, mental or mood changes, persistent sore throat or fever.
This drug may rarely cause serious (possibly fatal) liver disease. If you notice any of the following highly unlikely but very serious side effects stop taking and notify dr immedately: yellowing eyes and skin, unusual/extreme tiredness."
Last time I checked some of those side effects were the very reason to take such a medication. So my question is this, are the meds we take really helping us or hurting us more? I hate taking pain killers and only take them when I have no other options so having this stronger version of a standard over the counter is very unusual for me, but was sadly a need due to not knowing exactly why I have been feeling the way I do. Hopefully the blood test they took (evil vampires had to poke 3 times just for one vile of blood and now both arms are bruised) will give us some answers. In the mean time I get to take this when the pain gets too bad and hope that none of the side effects, beyond the drowsiness one (that will happen and cause me to go as Jay affectionately calls it comatose) actually happen. I think I'm going to start reading medicine lables more often just to see if they side effects are worse than what the meds are for.

5 years have come and gone
On Saturday Jay and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary. We didn't do much since we don't have much in the way of money to spend. We did however watch "Eagle Eye" (one of our new favorite movies) and do our anniversarry dinner of Chilies take out. Every year we have done take out of Chilies or Olive Garden for our anniversarry. We put the kids to bed and then have our dinner while watching the movie of the night. The last five years have been wonderful. We have had our struggles, but only gotten closer from those experiences. I am so greatful that he loves me inspite of all that I have been through in my own life and how he has been there for me as I've worked so hard to over come my past. I am beyond greatful for all of his hard work in his job and for the hard work he has been doing at going back to school to finish his degree. He is a great dad and wonderful husband.
Where is the time?
Where has the time gone? Yesterday Kaden went into Sunbeams at church. I can't believe he is now in primary. He looked so lost when we took him there instead of nursery. He loved his nursery class a lot and so this is a big change for him. I can't believe he is old enough to be a primary kid. Now I just have 4 months until Annabelle enters the nursery and I get 2 hours of freedom from them! Actually that is what it feels like when Jay is out at sea and I get a small break just by going to church. My kids are growing up on me.
