Happy Birthday Jay!

Today my best friend and husband has his birthday.  Sadly we can't celebrate until tomorrow when he returns home from this mini deployment.  But no matter what today is his birthday and he deserves to have it recognized.  He is a great husband and father to our kids.  They love him so much and treasure all the time we have together between deployments.  He works so hard to improve in his job and with school.  He does so much to help me around the house and to support me in my crazy projects.  He is truly my best friend and all I can say is that he deserves the best, even when he isn't here.  So, Happy Birthday Jay!

The Best surprise

Last night I was counting down the fact that I had two more nights before Jay was home when the doorbell rang.  I went to answer it and got a wonderful surprise.  Jay was home early, however not for long.  Apparently another carrier had a major accident with a fatalite and they asked the Nimitz to assist them with their flight training.  So Jay was able to come home for the night, but this morning had to leave and return to another mini deployment.
Though I'm not too thrilled to have him go again I know that it is only for a few short days and just to help out another ship in the fleet.  The kids loved to see him, especially Annabelle.  I made Jay stay by the door and had Annabelle walk to him, which he loved and so did she.  She is almost fully walking on her own so the see her take that many steps to her favorite person on the planet (nope not me, but Kaden is the same way only it is my sister that is his favorite person) was wonderful and just melted Jay's heart.  This surprise couldn't have come at a better day for me.

Jay's new Comander and Chief

This has been a historic day for our great country as we have watched the Presidential Inauguration of Obama.  While I am still not sure what he will truly do as President I do say that he will have my respect.  He is Jay's new Comander and Chief and on this historic day that is something that has been in the forefront of my mind.  I've sat here listening and watching the events wishing him the best and thinking that this day shows us just how far this country has come since it's founding days.  While we still have a ways to go today we can see that we truly have come a long way.  As I listened to the Navy choir sing the National Anthem I got the same chills that I've gotten every time I hear that beautiful song.  What a great country we live in to have the opportunity to voice our opinions and not fear retaliation.  For those who would like to read his speech from the inauguration click here.

About Time

I'm not sure how many of you have followed the case of the two border patrol agents who got arrested and placed in jail for doing their jobs.  It was one of those things that I did follow.  It was one case that should never have happened the way it did, and sadly two men doing their jobs were given convictions of 10 and 12 years in jail.  For the last 2 years some members of congress and a lot of the public have been fighting to get Bush to pardon them and release them from Prison and he ignored them.  However today those two agents got there sentence commuted.  It should have been a full pardon (like all those scum bags that were given pardons, ie drug dealers and politicians).
