Baptism

When Kaden turned 8 back in February that immediately meant the planning for his baptism was in full swing.  We'd already planned out the date and sent out invitations for a month later, but there was still a lot to be done.  Kaden had been looking forward to getting baptized since he turned 7.  In our faith, LDS, when a child turns 8 they are baptized into the church.  Kaden informed me last year that he wanted to get baptized so we spent the year working towards that goal so that he would understand the promises he'd be making for getting baptized.
The day finally arrived for him to be baptized and he was so excited.  My family and Jay's had flown in from Utah for the big event.  We even had some family come down from Waynesboro and Richmond area for the big event.  Kaden had even asked to include some of the navy wives we've become good friends with to be invited too.    Saturday, March 2, 2013 he was baptized.  He was so excited for this day.

After Kaden was baptized he was given the gift of the Holy Ghost.  He asked that Great Grandpa Teerlink be the one to give the blessing.  It was a beautiful but long blessing, which comes from the fact that Grandpa is a Patriarch for his stake back in Waynesboro.  After all was said and done we had everyone over for a lunch.  It was so good to see my navy family and our families interact.  And it was wonderful that Hannah, her husband Quez, Ersan, Sharonda, their baby Jacoby and Asia could all make it.  These ladies along with a few others made the last deployment so much easier.  And it was nice to introduce them to our faith and some of what we believe in.

Jay's mom made Kaden a Transformer quilt.  His expression says it all.  He loves this quilt.

It was really nice to have so many friends and family able to come and join us for Kaden's baptism.  We even had many of our friends from our ward come to support Kaden in this decision.  It was such a special weekend and a special day for all of us.
