The Nimitz just finished their second port visit. This one was to South Korea. This week they are participating in War games with South Korea. While Jay is out to sea I keep track of the international media to see what's happening with his fleet. Today this article came out and it was one of those feel good ones about the Navy and how they're relationship with other countries is.

S. Korean soldier undergoes surgery on U.S. carrier Nimitz SEOUL, March 4 (Yonhap) -- A South Korean soldier underwent an emergency operation Tuesday on the nuclear-powered U.S. aircraft carrier Nimitz taking part in a massive joint exercise of South Korean and U.S. forces here, the Navy said. Chief Petty Officer Kim Sung-joon was participating in the joint military exercise aboard 4,200-ton destroyer Gang Gam Chan late Monday evening when he was diagnosed with acute appendicitis by one of his ship's medical officers, the Navy said in a press release. The medical officers were unable to operate on him or take him ashore due to rough seas, and the only available option was to take him aboard the 97,000-ton U.S. Navy carrier. A Navy helicopter carrying Kim safely landed on the flight deck of the USS Nimitz shortly after 9 p.m. His appendix was successfully removed by U.S. medical officers aboard the U.S. Navy carrier. "We are truly grateful of the immediate support the U.S. provided to one of our soldiers who needed medical attention. It is an incident such as this that reminds us of the need to do our utmost to save our soldiers, either South Korean or U.S., when in need," a spokesman for the Navy said. The U.S. carrier and some 15,000 U.S. troops from U.S. mainland and Pacific bases are taking part in the annual military exercise, Key Resolve, that began Sunday. The exercise ends Friday.
